The Stanley Bréhaut Ryerson Research Centre
At the Research Centre
Stanley Bréhaut Ryerson’s personal library, once situated at 3519 Lorne, is now located at the Atwater Library. Books and furniture have been carefully arranged to approximate the original atmosphere and organization of the library which he left to the Fondation Aubin. The Collection consisted of over 8,000 carefully chosen items, including rare books, pamphlets, and relevant scholarly journals. Many of these works have annotations in the margins made by Stanley Ryerson himself.
The Stanley Bréhaut Ryerson Research Centre Collection now includes items donated by Ryerson’s colleagues and other friends of the Fondation, and consists of some 11,000 items. The principal themes of the Collection are Marxism, political economy, the world history of the labour movement, history of Québec and Canada, historiography, philosophy, nationalism, women’s studies and First Nations’ studies. The Collection contains works in French, English, Russian and German as well as in other languages.
